To really get started as an amateur photographer, you need a great camera and a portfolio of great photos. So the first thing you need is a set to show what you can do!

Last summer I did it. A super awesome photo that hardly anyone believes I took. It now decorates my desktop and everyone asks me where I got it.

“I took it myself!”
“What? What kind of fancy camera have you got?”

Lol. That’s funny. Yes, the picture was not taken with my mobile phone, but I bought the Sony Alpha 6000. It’s a relatively cheap beginner’s camera, it has its weaknesses, but it’s more than good enough to start taking professional photos.

So can anyone do it?
I think so, but since I’ve had it I’ve taken several thousand photos. Some of them are really great, but most of them fall victim to the delete button straight away.

But it’s totally cool when I get people excited about my photos!
But let’s be serious. A great camera is not enough. Good photos are behind the camera. Eh. I mean, not photos of me. They’re never good! ;-)
In the beginning I sat down and read two books about camera settings. And of course Youtube videos. You should watch those too!
Of course, this didn’t help me take better pictures. Well, I always removed the lens…
